For most students, their Art 1 class at the junior high level is their first exposure to a "formal" art class. To fit their developmental level, I believe in using five methods to teach drawing skills:
1. Drawing from two-dimensional reference pages (model pages).
2. Drawing using principles of One, Two, and Three-Point Perspective.
3. Drawing using the "Grid System."
4. Drawing from still-life objects.
5. Drawing from imagination.
